THE GOLDEN HOUR

8pm

The right movement at the right pace

In the wise words of Gus Gus from Cinderella, "Riker reasy." Try to get buttery smooth camera moves by slowing down. From above you get to pick up a lot of details - viewer needs time to capture everthing.

The Framing & the main character

Overtaking shots put an emmphasis on the separation between the main subject and the background while also serving as a reveal shot. Combine it with tilt reveals to make objects apear on screen more interestingly. Also called Unveiling shot.

The importance of the Atmosphere

ND filters are a must, period. Everything looks cool from above - yes. But you need to rise above and aim for better locations at the right time and with the right conditions. Some places will look better with a sky clear, whilts others might have a special field with a foggy atmosphere or on a cloudy day. After all, drone cinematography is still cinematography.
